GEM MINING

Pan for treasures with your Jack-Be-Littles in our old fashion mining sluices. Here at Hank’s PumpkinTown you can mine for gemstones, fossils, arrowheads and seashells. Try to collect them all! Each bag is different offering a variation of treasures to take home as well as an identification card so your little prospectors can share what they’ve learned long after leaving the farm.

How do I get Started?

Stop by Hank’s Gemstone Mine and pick out your bag of rough.

Mining Rough is $8 per bag.

There are four to choose from: the gemstone bag, the fossil bag or the seashell bag.

Next, take your bag to the sluice. Place a handful of rough into the provided screened bottom box and wash it in the water. You’ll soon discover your hidden treasures!

This is an activity that children and parents can do together. Spend 10 minutes or spend a half hour!
Once you have found all your treasures, take them to our identification board to find out what you’ll be taking home.
Use the bag provided to keep your treasures safe for the journey home and don’t forget your identification postcard so you can share what you’ve learn with those at home!
